Fourth-quarter run key for Dover
DOVER 58, HEATH 50 Dover outscored Heath 27-13 in the fourth quarter, rallying to remain undefeated by downing Heath at the Grandview Heights Bobcats Holiday Classic on Friday.
Cory Contini led Dover with 24 points and Evan Snyder added 22 as the Tornadoes improved to 7-0.
Contini sank four 3-pointers and was 6-of-6 at the free-throw line. Snyder went 12-of-14 from the line; Blake Blair scored six points and grabbed seven boards.
Jake Geller led Heath with 16 points.
Heath led 12-10 after the opening quarter, but Dover took a 24-20 edge at the half. Heath took a 37-31 lead into the final frame.
However, the Tornadoes outscored Heath by 14 over the final eight minutes to stay unbeaten.
The Tornadoes will play the winner of the Grandview Heights vs. Wellington game at 8 tonight.
HILAND 67, DANVILLE 45 Hiland used a big second half to notch a win over Danville on the first night of the First Federal Holiday Showcase at the Reese Center.
Todd Ropp led Hiland (8-1) with 14 points and Dennis Chupp added 10 as the Hawks were on top led 14-11 at the end of the first quarter, but Danville took a 26-24 edge at the intermission.
However, the Hawks owned the third quarter as they took a 46-34 advantage into the final frame and extended that lead over the final eight minutes of play.
In the earlier game, Brookhaven defeated Perry 64-47.
Ronnie Williams had a game-high 23 for Brookhaven. Tyler Sibert led Perry with 13 points.
Action continues tonight at the Reese Center.
HAMILTON BADIN 67, CENTRAL CATHOLIC 50 Nathan Moss tallied 18 points and Dominic Valentino added 14 as Hamilton Badin knocked off host Tuscarawas Central Catholic to conclude the first night of the Dover-Phila Credit Union Holiday Classic.
Badin led 17-13 after the opening quarter and 24-20 at the intermission, but outscored the Saints 23-12 in the third quarter to take command.
Michael Teater paced Central with 18 points and Max Fragasse added 10.
In other earlier games:
• Bishop Hartley downed Carroll 46-43 as Chris Moxley led with 13 points, while Cameron Ball added 11 and Drew Ortega posted 10.
Xander Smart paced Carroll with 15 points.
• Delphos St. John knocked off Fremont St. Joe’s 66-39 as Andy Grothouse led the way with 17 points, while Tyler Conley added 11 and Alex Oldenweiler posted 10.
Hunter Harrison led Fremont St. Joe’s with 12 and Ben Linke added 10.
• Frank Catrine scored 24 points and Kevin Christie added 14 as Bishop Fenwick stopped Columbus DeSales 51-45.
Caden Sanchez led DeSales with 12 points and Jos DeLozier added 11.
• In the fourth game of the day, Notre Dame Catherdral Latin defeated Dayton Chaminade Julienne 51-47 as John Cirillo poured in 30 points and Mark Kostelac added 10.
Myo Baxter-Bell led CJ with 18 points and Alex Vest posted 10.
• Matt Yoho tallied 14 points, Alex Holt had 13 and Jimmy Harley posted 10 as Columbus Bishop Ready downed Parma Holy Name 66-35.
Lawrynce Johnson paced Holy Name with 16.
• Anthony Glover Jr. scored 21 points and Parker Ernsthausen added 17 as Toledo St. John defeated Catherdral Prep from Pennsylvania 67-60.
Matt Harris Jr. led Cathedral Prep and all scorers with 29 points.
FAIRLESS 51, INDIAN VALLEY 50 Austin Weyandt hit a layup at the buzzer to give the host Falcons the one-point win over Indian Valley in this PAC-7 contest.
Weyandt, who took the ball from half court and dribbled all the way in for the winning shot, led Fairless with 19 points.
Hunter Wells added a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Falcons.
Brady Byers led the Braves with 21 points and nine rebounds.
TUSKY VALLEY 52, TUSLAW 40 Jordan Felgenhauer had 20 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots for Tusky Valley as the Trojans won a PAC-7 game at Zoarville.
Derek Horstman added 13 points and four assists for Tusky Valley. Nick Gauding contributed nine points for the winners.
Josh Getz led Tuslaw with 14 points.
The Mustangs fell behind 24-11 by halftime and could not recover.
CANTON SOUTH 55, CARROLLTON 37 Malik Campbell scored 14 points to lead Canton South to a home victory over Carrollton in Northeastern Buckeye Conference play.
Canton South outscored Carrollton 15-3 in the final quarter to secure the win.
Mark Nicoletti scored 12 points for the Wildcats, while Demetrius Barrino added 10 points.
Caleb Pasiuk scored a game-high 16 points for Carrollton.
SANDY VALLEY 79, CONOTTON VALLEY 52 Nate Shepler led Sandy Valley with 22 points to help the Cardinals to a win on the road against Conotton Valley.
Corbin Brown and Chad Neisel each added 11 points to the Sandy Valley victory.
Conotton Valley was led by Brett Bower, who scored 19 points. Brandon McCreary added 18 for the Rockets.
CAMBRIDGE 44, COSHOCTON 34 Cambridge outscored Coshocton 22-4 in fourth quarter for a come-from-behind East Central Ohio League win.
