St. Thomas Aquinas Knights Team News

LOUISVILLE  The last time a St. Thomas Aquinas High School football team defeated Marlington, the Knights were barely out of diapers.

Marlington’s Dukes came into Friday’s game on a seven-game streak in the rivalry.

After two weeks, several teams - St. Thomas Aquinas, Central Catholic, Carrollton, Indian Valley & Garaway - remain unbeaten. At least one of these teams (Indian Valley faces Garaway) will lose.

LOUISVILLE  Do not expect the 2-0 St. Thomas Aquinas High School football team to be fooled by Marlington’s winless record this week.

After two challenging games to open the season, high-scoring Aquinas expects more of the same from the visiting Dukes at 7 p.m. Friday.

MINERVA Quarterback Anthony Moeglin does it all for the St. Thomas Aquinas football team.

So it should come as no surprise that he delivered two of the biggest plays to help the Knights go to 2-0 Friday.

It’s the second week of the high school football season. That means it’s time to renew one of the area’s hottest nonleague rivalries when St. Thomas Aquinas travels to Minerva on Friday at 7 p.m.

The St. Thomas Aquinas football team will be rekindling a rivalry to open the season this week. The Knights will host a traditional foe in Elyria Catholic on Friday at 7, though the teams have not played since 2010.

“This has been a great rivalry over the years,” Aquinas head coach Tim Budd said.
