MINERVA  Their winning streak was bound to end sometime.

Not very many people thought the Minerva Lions would go down the way they did Friday night, though.

The St. Thomas Aquinas High School football team took command with a pair of late touchdowns in the first half and rolled to a 34-6 win over the Lions at Hines Stadium.

The enormity of what the St. Thomas Aquinas Knights face this week set in moments after a convincing season-opening win.

In summing up the Minerva Lions, Aquinas head coach Tim Budd knows they’re not just a good football team.

“How about a great football team that hasn’t lost a regular season game since 2010?” Budd said.

LOUISVILLE  Loaded with guys capable of quick bursts, the St. Thomas Aquinas backfield can give defenders fits.

Players such as Bryan Wilkins and Josiah Moore have done it before. In his first start at quarterback, Anthony Moeglin even showed what he is capable of in the open field.
