LOUISVILLE Moments after beating West Branch last week, Louisville High School football coach Paul Farrah stood before his Leopards and made a statement.

“I hope Carrollton won.”

That meant a matchup of 6-0 teams Friday night at Louisville Stadium. Apparently, the Leopards love a challenge.

The state’s No. 1-ranked Division II team made it look easy in a rain-soaked 52-0 rout of Carrollton.

Box score/recap

The game brought back memories of Week 7 last year, when the Leopards welcomed a 6-0 Alliance team to their friendly confines. The Aviators went home with a 49-0 loss.

A motivated Louisville team is a scary Louisville team.

“It keeps us up in the middle of the season,” Farrah said. “To see a team that’s 6-0, it brings some excitement. It was a good atmosphere.”

The good atmosphere didn’t translate into a good performance by the upstart Warriors (6-1, 3-1), who are coming off an 0-10 season last year.

“It was just a good ol’ fashion butt whooping,” Carrollton coach Dan Detwiler said. “We couldn’t do anything offensively or defensively. They totally controlled the game.”

Louisville sophomores Chad Neff and Lucas Poyser ran wild as the Leopards (7-0, 4-0) broke the 50-point mark for the third straight year against Carrollton.

Neff, getting his first start at quarterback, simply ran through tackles, his long strides leaving defenders trying to hold on. Poyser used his quick feet to make the Warriors miss as he earned his fourth-straight 100-yard rushing game.

Neff finished with 169 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries. He also completed two short passes and had a potential 25-yard TD pass dropped.

In a little more than three quarters of action during the last two weeks, Neff has 341 yards rushing and six TDs.

Poyser had 121 yards and three TDs on 13 carries Friday. His 27-yard TD run late in the first quarter included a cut and a hop that would have made Barry Sanders smile.

“You can’t really say anything,” Farrah said of the sophomore duo. “Just watch them play.”

Neff broke three tackles en route to a 44-yard touchdown run and a 21-0 Louisville lead in the second quarter. That play more than doubled Carrollton’s yardage to that point.

Jeremy White intercepted a pass — his first of two picks — on the first play of Carrollton’s ensuing possession. Nine plays later, Neff dove in to complete a 15-yard touchdown run.

Neff subbed out. Enter junior QB Toby Minster to direct the hurry-up offense with 3:23 left in the half. A minute and 59 seconds later, the Leopards were lighting up the scoreboard again. Minster completed 2-of-3 passes for 32 yards to White. Poyser made a defender completely whiff during his 8-yard TD run.

The Warriors, who entered the night averaging almost 300 yards of offense, were held to 50 total yards on 44 plays. Carrollton QB Johnny Lowdermilk was under pressure all night, and the Warriors had no running game (minus-6 yards) to speak of.

“Our front five are pretty good football players,” Farrah said about his defensive line. “We didn’t have to blitz to get to (Lowdermilk). Then our three linebackers just roamed and made plays.”

The Leopards have won 23 straight regular season games, which equals their longest streak since winning a school-record 38 straight from Week 3 of 1963 to Week 10 of 1966.

Idiocy

OK...let's get some things straight.  Louisville has 377 boys enrolled in their high school, in order to be considered for Division II, you have to be between 347 and 517 (so the Leopards are on the smaller side of the Division II schools).  Yes, the NBC is mostly comprised of Division III teams...but what other league would you suggest they join?  The Federal League is made up of mostly Division I teams, which would be great competition for the Leopards, but how would this be a true measure of the success of a season when you are going against schools with nearly double your enrollment (not to mention the recruiting that goes on at McKinley)...before you say it, yes...I know that Lake is a Division II school  The Leopards play one Division I school each year (and it is the 5th largest in Stark County) and are competitive against them year in and year out...beating them each of the last 3 seasons.  Regarding the playoffs...the Leopards have won playoff games in 2008 (losing to a final 4 opponent), 2007 (runner-up to a school that is now Division I and in position to make the playoffs in Division I), 2005 (losing to Canfield, the State runner-up), 2004 (beating the #1 team in their region), 2003 (beating the #2 team in their region...which is now a Division I powerhouse in Pickerington Central), and in 2002.Come up with whatever goofy nicknames you want to for this fine football program, they will just keep beating the teams that are put in front of them and making the playoffs year in and year out...in order to win the state championship, you first have to make the playoffs...from there it is all up to the talented young men on the football field, the coaching staff on the sidelines, and Leopard Nation in the stands (no matter how far we have to travel...we WILL be there)!!!Perhaps post the school that you affiliated with so that we can do some comparisons know-it-all...I would gladly do some research for ya to prove the the Leopards are no "choke artists" as you called them.  If that team happens to be Massillon, who was it that put you out of the playoffs last year?  Hoover if I recall correctly, and who was it that shut Hoover out last season...let me think for a minute....oh yeah, it was the LOUISVILLE LEOPARDS!!!  Leopard Nation!!!!!!

Leopards

Better luck next year? The season is over yet. And if you're correcting bigdaddydawg's spelling, perhaps you should be a little more careful yourself because you aren't doing much better.

Yes, the D2 Leopards play in a D3 league. However, they are extremely close to the D3 cutoff themselves so it's not like the are taking in a huge advantage in numbers into each league game. And their out of league schedule is nothing to scoff at either. Each of their non-league games (which all were wins for the Blue and White) this season came against playoff teams from last year including D1 and D2 state semifinalists. They aren't scheduling cupcakes so take that notion out of your mind.

If you're from Massillon, quit being bitter about back-to-back losses and get back after it for the rest of the year. You have a great team and an excellent shot at going far in the playoffs just like the Leopards.

Leopards

Okay, First off you spelled idiot and moron wrong!  They are spelled B-I-G-D-A-D-D-Y-D-A-W-G! I said nothing about the teams playing outside there divisions in the play-offs. I said put them on your schedule. You see the way it works in H.S. football is you don't get to choose who you play in the play-offs. Only in the regular season. You don't play every one in your division in the regular season! The word you want is CONFERENCE or LEAGUE! Not Division. Say it with me " Northern Buckeye C-O-N-F-E-R-E-N-C-E". See how easy that was. Let's try another one " Federal L-E-A-G-U-E"! There now you got it. Good Job!   Let's see how your logic works. you said " You don't play Div. I teams if you are Div. II". Really! Then why did you player Hoover when they are Div. I and Looyville is Div. II. Oh in case I'm going to fast for you Div. means D-I-V-I-S-I-O-N. Now Steubenville just beat Massillon who is Div. I. Steubenville is Div. III. What you afraid of a Div. III school? You said " Alot of teams run over their divisions and if they were say division IV and then they have to play a division I school in the playoffs then they may lose of course". Umm isn't this what you said wouldn't happen? That's pure Genious! Idiot! Moron!

As for how far the Lepers go in the play-offs, until you you win a state championship you will still be overrated! Your boyswill still be sitting at home watching the championship games! So I will leave you with a list of teams in the NBC ( that's a conferance remember) that scewyville plays that are in diffrent divisions. If Scewyville wants to be a big Dwag then go independant and play all the big boys in the area and see how bad you are. Massillon does it. They aren't scared!

Alliance III

Marlington III

Carrollton III

Minerva III

West Branch III

C.South III

Northwest III                         Well it seems Louiseville can only beat-up on Div. III teams.  Better luck next year!

WHI IS THAT  IDIOT  KNOW IT ALL-  IF YOU KNEW IT ALL YOU WOULDNT OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND SOUND LIKE A IDIOT

YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL YOU MORON- IT HAS DIVISIONS AND LEAUGES- THATS WAY LOUISVILLE IS IN DIVISION  II  AND TEAMS LIKE McKINLEY OR STUBENVILLE AND   ST. I's ARE DIVISION  i - THATS WHY YOU PLAY OTHER TEAMS IN YOUR DIVISION ALL YEAR AND THEN YOU PLAY TEAMS IN YOUR DIVISION  IN THE PLAYOFFS  YOU MORON- YOU DONT PLAY A TEAM IN  DIVISION I IF YOUR FROM DIVISION II  AND LET ME REMIND YOU OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS -LOUISVILLE HAS GONE TO THE SEMI-FINALS AND THE FINALS AND THE  QUARTE FINALS AND  THAT THE LAST 3 YRS AND DEEP RUNS EVERY YEAR- AND WE DO PLAY POWER TEAMS- WE PLAY NORTH CANTON EVERY YEAR AND WE ARE THE ONLY TEAM TO HAVE HELD HOWARD TO ALMOST NOTHING EVERY GAME- AND IF YOU LOOKA AT THE OVERALL  OSHA COMPUTER RATINGS- LOUISVILLE IS #1 OF ALL DIVISION II TEAMS AND  #2 IN THE OVERALL STATE FOR ALL DIVISION TEAMS ONLY BEHIND  ST. I'S-  SO LEARN THAT THE TEAMS WE PLAY ARE OUR DIVISION-THATS HOW THE SYSTEM IS SET UP YOU MORON- YEA ALOT OF TEAMS MAY ROLL OVER THERE DIVISION AND IF THEY WERE SAY IN DIVISION 4 AND THEY HAD TO PLAY A DIVISION 1 TEAM IN THE PLAYOFFS -WELL THEN THEY MAY LOOSE OF COURSE-  YOU REALLY MUST BE A IDIOT-  CHANGE YOUR NAME TO-  YOU NEED TO LEARN MORE

Leopards

I love it when a team plays in a weak division, runs all over those teams then chokes in the play-offs! They are to afraid to play real talent in the the area or outside of it. Put Steubenville Big Red on your schedule and see how good you are. How bout Canton McKinley? After the first round of the play-offs it wont matter what the records were when your sitting with the rest of the NBC watching teams that put real competetors on the non-league portions of their schedules still playing for a state title!

Leopards

Very impressive! Keep going Leps, all the way to state!

Leopards

The Leopards played their game tonight.......the combination of Neff and Poyser has turned the team around and are a great replacement for our ailing QB.......The stats tell the story.....methodical destruction. Very impressive.........but we should beat the teams in our league. On to the next game!
