Thought About This All Week

I have spent the last several days thinking about what I witnessed in the HOOVER game last week.  I kept telling myself to keep my mouth shut, as I try to write a positive column to read.  I hate second guessing coaches as they know their players a whole lot better than I do.  But something about the way that Hoover beat JACKSON just didn't sit right with me.

Forget for a minute that Erick Howard continued to get the ball over and over late into the 4th quarter, risking injury a week before the playoffs.  Forget, too that a hard working but clearly overmatched Jackson team could not have stopped him with 12 or 13 players on the field.  Forget that Hoover continued to pile on the yards and points with Howard, apparently trying to increase his individual statistics.

While one could debate whether or not Hoover ran up the score or stats intentionally, I feel bad for other players on the team.  I understand teamwork and knowing your role on a team.  I understand that there is only one ball and everyone can't have it.  But I think that hard parcticing, team players should be rewarded in a blow out victory.  In the Hoover / Jackson game, that clearly was not the case.
